Arranging Layers on a Template |
Layer arrangement consists of the moving and merging of layers.
Layers are arranged along the z-axis in order of top to bottom. Multiple layers are useful especially in situations where objects in one layer overlap with objects in another layer. For example, if you have set up a transparent watermark layer, you would want to configure that watermark layer to print on top of all the other layers.
To re-order layers using your mouse
Click and hold down the primary mouse button.
While holding down the mouse button, drag the layer to the desired position in the Layers list.
Release the mouse button to drop the layer.
To re-order layers using the layers toolbar
On the layer toolbar, click either the or buttons to move the layer up or down on the z-axis. Layers at the top of the list will print on top of lower layers.
|
Layers that are set up for alternative print methods on the Print Options tab of the Layer Properties dialog may only be moved among other layers printed in the same manner. |
Sometimes two layers need to be combined, and in this situation a merge can do this efficiently. When two layers are merged, the original source layer is removed, leaving only the destination layer.
To merge layers
Select the desired layer in the Layers pane of the Toolbox.
Click the secondary mouse button to open the layer's context menu.
Hover the pointer over Merge Into.
Select the desired destination layer.
|
Merging only works if both the source and destination layers are unlocked. |
