Selecting a Custom Color

You can select a custom color for the text, line, and fill properties of various objects and data entry controls in BarTender, as well as for the templates and data entry forms themselves. The custom colors are found on the Custom tab of the Colors dialog, which is accessed by selecting More Colors anywhere the Color option is available. The Color option appears in various places on the toolbars, as well as on property pages throughout the Properties dialog, on both the template and the form. It is also available in the Template Design View on the Background tab of the Page Setup dialog.

ClosedTo select a custom color

  1. Using one of the methods described above, open the Colors dialog.

  2. Click on the Custom tab and create a custom color using one or more of the following methods:

    • Click and drag the mouse in the color palette to select a color.

    • Click on and drag the arrow to the right of the vertical color bar to find the appropriate shade (lighter or darker) of the color currently selected in the color palette.

    • Enter a color's RGB value in the Red, Green, and Blue fields.

    • Adjust the hue, saturation and/or luminosity in the Hue, Sat, and Lum fields.

  3. Click OK to select the color.

For greater precision in selecting your custom color, you can set the red, green, and blue (RGB) color values that define the color, and further customize the color by setting its hue, saturation, and/or luminosity.

In some instances, you can only access the Color dialog for a particular property from the property page itself. For example, if you want to select a custom color for a text object's border, you must do this from the Border property page of the Text Properties dialog.
